NT Corin has an "open source" policy - all of our schematics, designs, and source code are available
to the general public. We will attempt to publish all of our intellectual property on our website as soon as time
permits.
Why are we taking this bold approach which very few other companies are willing to embrace? We feel that the benefits
to the customer far outweigh the risk that our own information will be used to compete against us. As a customer
ourself, we at NT Corin have always been appreciative when our vendors supply us with sufficient information to
adequately maintain and modify our purchased components. We are less worried about the abilities of our vendors
to support us for the long term if we feel that we have been given enough information to support the products ourselves
if necessary.
There has not been a single case where a vendor providing us with information has resulted in a loss of business
for that vendor. To the contrary, we have often preferred such vendors where possible. This experience leads us
to believe that our customers, especially foreign buyers, will also appreciate this philosophy.
We at NT Corin are also opposed to patents. Our belief is that patents enable the large corporations to abuse the
system rather than helping the small inventor as was their intended purpose. They also stifle production of the
best equipment - company A may have the best gidget and company B the best gadget, but both produce inferior equipment
because it requires both the best gidget and the best gadget, and neither will allow the other to use its inventions.
Providing access to your intellectual property also forces you to be innovative, since it is even harder to remain
one step ahead of your competitors.
We hope that you will find our "Open Source Initiative" to be a refreshing approach to business.
Sincerely,
Neal T. Corin
